Starshine
I've stopped trying to stuff things up inside of me. In all the ways.
The moon is waxing again, little one.
I never seriously wondered what pregnancy would feel like. Sometimes I believe I'll never have to experience menopause. Not for taking HRT, but that it will simply overlook me.
I did spend a summer wondering what it would be like to become a legitimate nun. I'm glad I moved on, they aren't exactly known for having a genocide-free reputation.
Why do we grow up trying to claim a favorite color? Most of them aren't even visible to us to begin with. Half blind, deaf, insensitive alien creatures. Mongrels, if you dare to believe the Annunaki double features.
I imagined I would marry my partner in crime. I imagined I would find a partner in crime. I imagined I would grow up to be an opera singing ballet dancer. Never considered the improbability. Went everywhere in a pink tutu before the age of 8. Unbothered that I'd convinced my mom to shave my head before entering kindergarten.
I want a day off from work. I could take a day off from work. I haven't taken a day off from work. I continue to clock into work.
I want to grow my hair out long and wear it in two thin braidlets down each side of my neck. Pocahontas, except I'm too white. I learned medicines and dance growing up in pow wow circuits, but it's also a place I don't fully belong.
I still might buy a unicycle.
I need to do a quick wash cycle.
